EXCLUSIVE: Two-time Women’s World Cup winner Kelley O’Hara is launching a sports series, as she preps a career in media and content creation.
Sports Are Fun! will feature the former soccer player and a revolving cast of co-hosts and guests, who discuss anything and everything from the world of women’s sports.
The show launches on February 4 on YouTube and is set to run “throughout 2024,” according to its makers. The move marks O’Hara’s latest step into the content creator world following her retirement from soccer last year after a 15-year career.
“This is a show that’s going to remind fans why they fell in love with sports,” she said. “That means tapping into all the stories, big or small, that get the group chat going. It’s going to feel like you’re there in the studio with us, talking about sports the way fans talk about sports.”
O’Hara has teamed with Just Women’s Sports (JWS) for the show, which is being launched in partnership with TurboTax. JWS has been a long-time partner of O’Hara, working with her to create the Just Women’s Podcast in 2020 and the likes of Kelley on the Street.
“The next step in the evolution of women’s sports is building out a media ecosystem that can keep fans connected around-the-clock,” said Just Women’s Sports Founder and CEO Haley Rosen. “This show closes the gap when it comes to innovative, personality-driven coverage, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with TurboTax as they make a splash in the women’s sports space.”
O’Hara retired from professional soccer in 2024 after a career that included two World Cup wins and an Olympic gold medal with the USA, two NSWL Championships and a work on a successful campaign that ensured equal pay for the U.S. women’s national team.
