EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin, Alliance Media Partners (AMP) has boarded sales rights to 80s-flavoured body horror-thriller Test Screening, which launched at last year’s FrightFest.
Set in a small American town in the mid-1980s, the movie follows unsuspecting young friends who attend the mysterious “test screening” of a never-before-seen film at their local movie house. Afterwards, terrifying transformations are visited upon everyone who has been in the audience.
Pic heralds from Stephen Susco’s Parallax Ventures and Club Media Films. Director is Clark Baker. Also producing are Michael Mobley and Warren Kohler.
Starring are Chlöe Kerwin (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Drew Scheid (Juror #2), Rain Spencer (Good Girl Jane) and Johnny Berchtold (The Passenger), with co-stars Alex Hurt (She Said), James Urbaniak (The Fabelmans), Amy Hargreaves (13 Reasons Why) and Sean Bridgers (Room).
Producer Stephen Susco commented: “From the moment we started developing Test Screening, our goal was to deliver a fresh spin on 80s horror—where vivid atmosphere meets visceral body horror. We’re excited for everyone to experience the film’s unapologetic intensity and very much look forward to working with AMP with this aim.”
Anthony Buckner, AMP’s Head of Sales and Acquisitions, added: “We can’t wait to bring Test Screening to EFM. Its smart blend of nostalgia, chilling practical effects, underlying dread, and psychological suspense makes it a standout in today’s horror landscape.”
