EXCLUSIVE: Creator hub Nebula has ordered its first scripted original series, Sub/liminal, with Oscar-winning producer Dan Jinks (American Beauty, Big Fish) on board to executive produce.
The new dark anthology series from the indie streamer, said to be in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, will explore power dynamics in human relationships and what can happen when those relationships fall out of balance. The first season will feature six stand-alone episodes with stories from Nebula creators brought to life in partnership with seasoned directors and producers.
The series is slated to begin production later this year.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with Dave Wiskus and the amazing writers and directors he has assembled at Nebula for this exciting new series,” said Jinks.
“Dan Jinks has an Oscar, I’m doing whatever he says,” said Nebula CEO Dave Wiskus.
Last year, Nebula launched Nebula Motion Pictures, the studio arm of the media company, creating a studio pipeline for digital creators to bring their stories for film and television to life.
Jinks won the Best Picture Oscar for producing American Beauty, starring Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening. His film credits also include Milk, Big Fish, Nothing to Lose, Down With Love, The Forgotten and The Nines. Additionally, he executive produced The Bone Collector, starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.
In television, Jinks has produced several series, including the Emmy-winning Pushing Daisies, Traveler, Side Order of Life, and Emily Owens, M.D.
On Broadway, he served as the lead producer for the musical adaptation of Big Fish.
