Federation Backs Jerome Salle’s Syzygy From ‘Anthony Zimmer’ Helmer

EXCLUSIVE: Federation Studios has launched a JV with acclaimed French director-producer Jérôme Salle.

The studio has taken a 51% majority stake in Syzygy, the new outfit opened by the Anthony Zimmer, The Odyssey and Zulu helmer.

Syzygy will develop and produce premium international films and series, primarily for traditional platforms and broadcasters but also for potential theatrical release. He will work as a showrunner and director or as a producer, depending on the project.

With Federation’s support, Salle is now in a “position to produce three big-budget series of international scope,” according to Federation boss Pascal Breton, who called him a “formidable film and series director.”

Salle said: “Following two rewarding projects as a director and producer in the series realm, I am pleased to join forces with Federation. Together our expertise fuels the development of a slate of ambitious international productions.”

Salle’s best known projects include Anthony Zimmer, which was remade as The Tourist starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, and Zulu, which starred Orlando Bloom. Last year he helmed Disney+ biopic Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, which starred Daniel Brühl as the iconic fashion designer.

Earlier today we revealed that Federation is officially seeking hundreds of millions of euros via cash injection as bosses look to sell at least 40% of The Agency and Around the World in 80 Days maker. Check out that interview here.
