The DunKings are back. A year after Ben Affleck‘s Dunkin Super Bowl ad ran with Matt Damon, Tom Brady and then-wife Jennifer Lopez, Affleck is back for the next chapter of The DunKings. The spot aired tonight during the 67th Grammy Awards on CBS.
Affleck recruited fellow Bostonians, his brother Casey Affleck and The Apprentice‘s Jeremy Strong for the spot which begins with Ben Affleck pounding on Strong’s dressing room door. Casey answers the door, informing Ben to hold on, that Jeremy “is a method actor” and “he’s not coming out ’till he’s ready.” “He’s preparing, he’s doing his research,” says Casey.
After some banter, we see Ben throwing open the door and Jeremy emerging from a giant coffee cup, covered in beans (aka The Bean Method). “What are you doing in there?, asks Ben, to which Jeremy replies, “We’re doing a Dunkin Donuts commercial right? I’m just trying to find the character. I think I found a way in. You’re from Boston. I’m from Boston. Dunkin is Boston. Boston is Paul Revere. One if by land, two if by sea. The Redcoats are coming.”
Ben then interrupts, saying “You’re an artist and I know what that’s like, but how long is it going to take for the bean method?” Jeremy replies: “Three hours.” Casey then quips in a nod to Damon, “You should have paid for Matt.” Ben tells Casey, “I told you that.”
