Andrea Mitchell Anchors Final MSNBC Show With Surprise Sendoff

Andrea Mitchell anchored her final edition of MSNBC‘s long-running Andrea Mitchell Reports, with staffers and colleagues past and present entering the studio to give her an ovation as she wrapped up the show.

Mitchell’s show has been on the network since 2008. She announced in October that she would be stepping down from the program, but would remain at NBC News as chief Washington correspondent and chief foreign affairs correspondent.

After thanking the show’s staff and past and current MSNBC executives, Mitchell told viewers, “Journalism is an enormous privilege and a responsibility. It’s never been more important to do it well. That’s my vow as I continue on this journey.”

Kristen Welker, the moderator of Meet the Press, told her, “I just want everyone to know how beloved you are by me and by so many people. You taught me so much of what I know about being a journalist, about asking important questions, about asking tough questions, and I have just looked up to you forever.”

Among those who also joined in the sendoff at the end of the show were senior White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell and Pete Williams, the former NBC News correspondent who retired in 2022.
