Demi Moore To Be Feted By Santa Barbara Film Festival With Career Look

EXCLUSIVE: Philadelphia plays Kansas City in the Super Bowl on Sunday February 9, but there is another event of substance for film fans taking place that day now as well right down the coast in Santa Barbara.

As part of a just announced career retrospective for newly- minted Golden Globe winner Demi Moore, The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will be hosting a 2:00pm Free screening February 9 at the Arlington Theatre of her Oscar nominated performance and film, The Substance, followed by an in-person conversation with the star.

The retrospective actually begins on Friday, February 7th at 5:40 PM PT at SBIFF’s Film Center with a screening of Adrian Lyne’s Indecent Proposal in which she co-starred with Robert Redford and Woody Harrelson. It will continue on Monday, February 10th when the festival will host a free screening of Jerry Zucker’s Oscar winning Ghost at 11:00 AM PT, also at the Arlington.  

Coralie Fargeat’s critically acclaimed body horror feature The Substance in which she stars alongside Margaret Qualley, premiered in-competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered rave reviews and won the Screenplay award. Following it’s September 20th theatrical release, Moore went on to receive SAG, BAFTA, Critics Choice, and Academy Award nominations for her performance, and so far winning the Golden Globe.

She most recently starred in the second season of Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans and Paramount+’s Landman from Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, in which she stars alongside Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton. It was also recently announced that Moore will star in Boots Riley’s I Love Boosters, alongside Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield and Naomi Ackie. The actress set a record in 1995 when she became the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, known for her work in such films as St. Elmo’s Fire, About Last Night, Ghost, A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure, G.I.Jane and many more.
