Who would have thought that a pop star’s successful career would have all started with a wig. Miley Cyrus introduced herself to us back in 2006 as ‘Miley Ray’ on Disney Channel, where she portrayed a girl with a double life. When she wasn’t regular girl Miley Ray in public, she was world sensation Hannah Montana performing sold-out concerts on world tours. We all loved the star and the show, and now with ‘Endless Summer Vacation, ’ audiences can see how far Miley has come.
A lot of people have a hard time separating an actor from their character. Because Miley played a girl with the same first name and became extremely famous, she suffered from this. Everyone saw her as Hannah Montana, and didn’t want to accept that she’s her own person with her own will. In addition, she was inevitably going to grow up, something fans didn’t want. While everyone wanted Miley to retain her Disney-friendly personality after she was done as Hannah, Miley was ready to move on. She wanted to live a more mature life, and she wasn’t going to let her reputation or people’s expectations stop her.

Expectations vs Reality
Miley’s career was a hit from the start. ‘Hannah Montana’ quickly became loved for its creativity, humor, story, and cast. Not only was Miley filming the show, but she’d soon be performing world tours as both Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus. She was living a kind of life most kids only dream about. But what the kids didn’t know is how unglamorous Miley’s life behind the scenes was. There was so much pressure for Miley to remain extremely skinny due to her status. Because she was a Disney-It-Girl, she had a certain reputation to uphold. Not only did that involve conforming to conventional beauty standards, but also dressing certain ways, and having a good girl reputation. Miley was a child star and role model for kids, so her life was controlled in many ways. This made it hard for her to discover her true sense of self. Being Hannah Montana wasn’t just part of her life; it was her entire life. She felt a connection to the character, and that’s what fans expected her to be like. Unfortunately, her greatest opportunity would become her biggest obstacle.
While most of us were in school discovering ourselves, Miley was on set. Regular kids would be making friends, finding out their likes and dislikes, expressing themselves however they wanted, and being able to find out who they are. It’s hard to imagine that we were the ones with better experiences, not knowing what Miley was enduring. Being Hannah was great for helping establish Miley in the industry. However, it took away her childhood and, in many ways, her freedom. Once she was done being Hannah and ready to just be Miley and grow up, fans couldn’t accept that. They wanted her to continue being the girl they’ve known the whole time. Surprisingly, Miley didn’t give in. She was done letting everyone but her dictate her life. It was time to show the world that she was an adult of her own accord, not some fictional character created to hold a Disney personality for the rest of her life.

Identity
Miley has described Endless Summer Vacation as the “Cinderella slipper album” because it’s perfect for her and her identity. As an older artist who has separated herself from her Disney image, she’s been able to create songs that accurately represent how she feels. Music has always been a big part of Miley’s life, and it’s great that her music has been able to grow with her. Endless Summer Vacation definitely has a more mature feeling to it. Miley’s songs, while she was Hannah, had to be age-appropriate in addition to being relatable and enjoyable for kids. There’s nothing wrong with making music for kids, but it’s great how Miley’s career has grown over time, and she’s been able to write music for herself. The Disney+ special shows the star performing her songs while answering questions about the album. This new album is full of truth and depth for her. It’s great to know that Miley loved her current project and felt very true to herself while she worked on it.
It’s great that Miley has found herself and is in a position where she’s happy and comfortable with her life. People change and grow; it’s only natural that she wouldn’t want to be Hannah forever. While she’ll always be associated with the Disney Channel series, she’s also been able to create a new name for herself that people have accepted. Endless Summer Vacation is just one example of how the star has matured in all that time since her time at Disney. However, even though Miley left Disney, that doesn’t mean she hated every part of being there. In the Disney+ special, Miley even sings a cover of “The Climb” from ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’. Even though she doesn’t like for people to see her as Hannah in real life, she still enjoyed parts of being Hannah. That will always be her start and sentimental for her.

Life’s What You Make It
Miley has experienced a lot during her time as a star. And, while there are rough times, there are good ones as well. Miley was able to recreate her image in a way that felt more true to herself while continuing to honor her past. Even though Hannah’s in the rear view, Miley won’t ever forget her or the memories. She knows that, even if she wanted to, she can’t completely escape Hannah. That’s her best-known role and what most people will associate her with. While that can be troublesome, she makes it work for herself and doesn’t let it get in the way. Miley’s no longer that little twelve-year-old girl with big dreams of becoming a pop star. She’s achieved her dreams and is now creating fulfilling music in her thirties. Go check out Miley’s special, exclusively on Disney+.

An excerpt from the love letter: The Hollywood Insider’s CEO/editor-in-chief Pritan Ambroase affirms, “We have the space and time for all your stories, no matter who/what/where you are. Media/Cinema/TV have a responsibility to better the world and The Hollywood Insider will continue to do so. Talent, diversity and authenticity matter in Cinema/TV, media and storytelling. In fact, I reckon that we should announce “talent-diversity-authenticity-storytelling-Cinema-Oscars-Academy-Awards” as synonyms of each other. We show respect to talent and stories regardless of their skin color, race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, etc., thus allowing authenticity into this system just by something as simple as accepting and showing respect to the human species’ factual diversity. We become greater just by respecting and appreciating talent in all its shapes, sizes, and forms. Award winners, which includes nominees, must be chosen on the greatness of their talent ALONE.
I am sure I am speaking for a multitude of Cinema lovers all over the world when I speak of the following sentiments that this medium of art has blessed me with. Cinema taught me about our world, at times in English and at times through the beautiful one-inch bar of subtitles. I learned from the stories in the global movies that we are all alike across all borders. Remember that one of the best symbols of many great civilizations and their prosperity has been the art they have left behind. This art can be in the form of paintings, sculptures, architecture, writings, inventions, etc. For our modern society, Cinema happens to be one of them. Cinema is more than just a form of entertainment, it is an integral part of society. I love the world uniting, be it for Cinema, TV, media, art, fashion, sport, etc. Please keep this going full speed.”
