Shaman follows a missionary (Canning) as she and her husband (Gillies) seek to convert an Indigenous community in a remote Ecuadorian village. After a confrontation with the local shaman whose beliefs clash with her own, the missionary’s son (Klyne) is seemingly possessed by an ancient spirit. Forced to confront her faith and a demon older than her own religion, she must make an impossible choice that could either save her son or curse their souls.
The film was a co-production between Night Tree, Epopeya Films, and Macumba Films. Producers on the film include Antonio Negret, Daniel Negret, Luiza Ricupero, Christian Rojas E., with María de Los Ángeles Palacios executive producing.
Sara Canning is represented by Michael Hepburn at Amplified and Jamie Levitt at Lauren Levitt & Associates. Daniel Gillies is represented by David Fleming and Rob Marsala at Atlas Artists and Karen Kay at Karen Kay Management. Jett Klyne is represented by Tim Weissman at Buchwald.
