Will Smith Teases ‘Hancock 2’ & Reveals Zendaya Is Being Approached For A Role

Will Smith is teasing that a sequel to Hancock is in the works and wants Zendaya for a role in the film.

The actor made a surprise appearance on xQc’s live stream on Twitch and answered some fan questions.

“There’s a really cool Hancock 2 idea,” Smith said during the stream. “We haven’t even talked about it.”

Smith added, “I’m going to give you one little piece. Zendaya [is] being approached for a role in Hancock 2.”

Hancock is a 2008 superhero movie directed by Peter Berg and based on a screenplay by Vince Gilligan and Vy Vincent Ngo. The film revolves around the titular character, played by Smith, who is an amnesiac, alcoholic, reckless superhero trying to remember his past.

Smith’s co-stars included Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman, and Eddie Marsan.

A sequel to the film has been in the works since its release. Berg told MTV News in 2009 that Smith and Theron would return for the follow-up movie, saying, “Everybody’s going to come back for a sequel.”

In 2012, Berg was asked for an update on the Hancock sequel and revealed that it was “a question of timing” to get the film going.

“We’ve been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva goldman and myself. We’re all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time,” Berg told Comicbookmovie.com in 2012. “We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for sequel — and Will Smith actually had the idea — so I think it will happen, it’s just a question of timing.”

In 2020, Theron acknowledged that there had been talks to do Hancock 2 and would be game to star in a sequel if it ever came to happen.

“You know, for a while we [talked about a sequel],” Theron told ComicBook. “I think closer to when the movie came out, but not in recent years, no. We’ll be super heroes with our walkers, you know. And I’ll still go! I’ll still make that movie, I would do it in a heartbeat.”
